Do Not Contact (DNC) Request

As a player you have the right to boundaries that are respected. If you do not wish to communicate with a user for any reason, you have the right to ask them to no longer contact you. It is our expectation that if you ask someone to no longer contact you, that this boundary is respected. This is something that Cursed Domain (CD) is willing to enforce through a Do Not Contact Request (DNC).

A DNC is a clear assertion that you wish to no longer be contacted by another user and that you have contacted the administration to ensure compliance. The Administration makes no value judgement regarding the contact of a DNC request, we do not care if you (or they) did something wrong. A DNC is not an admission of guilt or a statement of wrongdoing, but rather the placement of a boundary (a request to be left alone) and enforcement by the community to ensure that this boundary is respected.

A DNC goes both ways, meaning once a DNC is placed the target of the DNC can no longer target you and you are no longer able to contact the user any longer.

How does this work:

1. Send at least one (ideally two) admin as well as the target of the DNC a letter on site stating your request to place a DNC.
2. Once this DNC has been submitted, the admin will copy this direct/private message into the staff area for our records and send you a reply communication notifying you that they have gotten your DNC. This serves as your receipt.
3. If you have been given a DNC, do not contact this user. Do not explain yourself, do not debate them, respect this boundary. If you fail to do this, this behavior will be considered harassment.
4. It is suggested if you share social media sites, unfriend one another. We do not control off-site communications.
5. It is suggested that you block one another on Discord.
6. It is suggested that both the blocker and the target of the block set the other on Ignore on site. You can learn more about our Ignore Settings here.
7. If you are in any shared threads with one another, please end the thread in your next post unless it is a moderated scenario. Do not reference one another, just leave. Moving forward, do not enter threads that the other is already in. Threads become first-some, first-serve. The exception to this would be events. If a mod wishes to run a mission for the both of you, please inform them of the DNC so that they can make alternative arrangements.
8. If you are in an event with one another, do not reference or target one another. Again, just leave each other alone.
9. Do not tag/ping each other on site or Discord.
10. Do not private message one another.

Example of a DNC Request Letter (feel free to copy or modify as needed):

Dear [Name];

I am sending you this letter to ask you to cease all communication with me -- this means I do not wish to speak with you over discord DMs, site private message, email, etc. This is a DNC Request. This is because [insert reason or skip this]. I no longer feel comfortable remaining in communication with you. I have screen shot this communication for my records and copied an administrator so this DNC will be enforced. As of now I will cease communications with you and if you continue to communicate with me despite this firm boundary that I have placed, I will be forced to contact the site administration.

Dear [Name]; I am sending you this letter to ask you to cease all communication with me -- this means I do not wish to speak with you over discord DMs, site private message, email, etc. [url=https://curseddomains.com/threads/do-not-contact-dnc-request.32/]This is a DNC Request[/url]. If you determine at a later date that you wish to reconcile, do not contact one another, this breaks the DNC. Please contact the administration and we will setup a private space for you to both hash out your differences if the other user consents. only the user that placed the DNC can request a reconciliation, if the reconciliation is refused by the target of the DNC that ends the request. The former target of the DNC becomes the holder of the DNC.

Example: Sue places a DNC against Kevin. They contact Kevin via private message, including at least one Admin in the private message and give them a DNC request. Kevin wants to protest this, it was a misunderstanding! Unfortunately, Kevin is not able to debate this. Sue asked to be left alone and Kevin cannot contact her without penalty (which might be as severe as a ban). Kevin and Sue leave their shared threads, unfriend one another on discord, block one another on discord, and unfriend/block one another on social media. 3 months later Sue has a change of heart, she wants to work things out with Kevin. Sue contacts the admin team and requests a reconciliation, the team will then reach out to Kevin and tell him that Sue wants to reconcile and offer them a private thread. Kevin has the right to refuse or accept this. Kevin refuses. In this case, we notify Sue that Kevin refused the reconciliation and that the DNC will remain in place. Kevin is now considered to be the holder of the DNC and to reconcile Kevin will need to reach out to the admin team and request a reconciliation.

A Note to All Users:

You are not messenger pigeons. You should not be sending messages for another player that has a DNC. Please respect the boundary that has been placed. While we will not punish you for this inappropriate behavior, it is very likely the DNC will be extended to you.
