Age: 16 Rank: First year Jujutsu Academy Student Appearance: Michi is not much of a standout in the countryside where tradition is embraced more readily. In Tokyo, she simply does not fit. If anything, she could be described as a novelty when compared to her contemporaries. She often dons traditional attire, even her uniform has been customised to adhere to a more traditional aesthetic resembling a kimono. The buttons which serve as subtle regalia of their station and association can be found studded around her obi sash. She finds this to be her most comfortable option, her only complaint being the dark, dreery color of their uniform. Pink or canary yellow was unfortunately too far a departure from the uniform to be approved. Physically, Michi is of average height and has an athletic build that is not particularly noticeable beneath her voluminous attire. Her long, dark, thick hair ends about mid thigh, the tips a coppery hue. A bad dye job from years ago that has almost entirely grown out, she just cannot bring herself to chop away her long hair. She also possesses large, almond-shaped eyes that are a shade of soft pink. Personality: Michi grew up in the countryside, in a small village best known for its trees rather than its people. She had never been to Tokyo prior to being enrolled in Jujutsu High. She is enamored by the bustle of activity that is Tokyo and has not yet conformed to 'modern living.' She can at times be too trusting of others, having had few experiences in her small hometown with charlatans and scam artists. She often feels out of place. She has contrasting ideals of maintaining who she is while also embracing the new life she has found in Tokyo. She never fit in at school, at home or in her community. She always could see cursed spirits. The spirits were small, often harmless (grade 4) and her frequent references of these creatures as a child had caused her to be labeled as delusional schizophrenic. She does not need this medication, in fact she was and is completely saine, but prior to learning about the jujutsu academy she had believed herself to be 'crazy.' Her peers often regarded her as strange but despite this she had a group of friends, dated boys and had a rather average life. Those strange creatures, barely noticeable as long as she remembered to take her medicine... History: A middle child of eight, it is easy to get lost in the crowd that was her household growing up. She grew up middle-class poor, her parents farmers and not particularly well-educated but also kind. She was the 'troubled child' due to her 'night terrors' and 'delusions of monsters roaming among men.' They coddled her a bit because of this, treating her as fragile most of her life. She stopped seeing the monsters when she was ten, they had finally found the right dosage and it was effective as long as she was never late. She had an otherwise unremarkable life until she was 15, her boyfriend's best friend was killed tragically. It was one of those surreal experiences that seemed and felt unbelievable, one day he was there and then the next he was gone. They called it an accidental drowning despite the fact that the creek was only six inches deep, however a few weeks later her boyfriend died. He also drowned, his head in a filled kitchen sink. They called it a suicide. A few months later a girlfriend of hers also died mysteriously. Another drowning, this one in her bathroom but the tub was empty. Nobody really understood why these people were dying, Michi included. They started calling it a rash of drowning suicides as improbable as the circumstances might have been. After she took her first job in a coffee house, a pair of co-workers had also died about 7 weeks apart. Michi was not the only person that seemed to notice the pattern, others had started to also - the people around her just seemed to die. A pariah in her own community, she often worked her shifts in the coffee house alone after the second death. Her lunch hours at school were also spent alone. Even her family started to distance themselves from her. Worst of all, the pills seem to not be working as well as they should. She has been seeing shadows looming behind her that have no source. She can feel this strange pressure, this indescribable presence of evil. Perhaps she needs an adjustment. |
